What is Cryolipolysis?
Cryolipolysisis the new pioneering fat-sculpting treatment that is the current trend in fat reduction. Cryolipolysis is a medical procedure used to destroy adipocytes (fat cells). Cryolipolysis is based on controlled cooling to near sub-zero temperatures, for non-invasive localised reduction of fat deposits in order to reshape body contours.
The exposure to cooling causes cell death of subcutaneous fat tissue without causing damage to the overlying skin. The procedure is the non-surgical alternative to liposuction. The “target” of cryolipolysis is the subcutaneous fat layer, i.e. the layer just below the epidermis. During cryolipolysis, special equipment is used to precisely target and freeze fat cells, which are then crystallised and activate a natural process that eliminates and gradually reduces fat layer thickness.
Then the dead cells are naturally eliminated from the body through the liver. The natural elimination of fat cells as time goes by leads to gradual but very obvious and permanent reduction of the fat layer.
How is cryolipolysis performed?
One or two heads create under-pressure, achieving suction of the affected area, lowering the temperature from -5 to -10 degrees Celsius. Therefore, fat cells degradation is achieved, leaving the surrounding tissue intact.
On which body parts can cryolipolysis be applied?
Cryolipolysis is applied to all body parts, including: inner and outer thighs, abdominal area, buttocks and arms. Clinical studies have demonstrated that after only one cryolipolysis session, the adipose tissue of the treatment area is reduced by 30-35%. This is evident after at least 8 weeks from the time of treatment.
How many sessions are required?
Cryolipolysis treatment is performed at the medical office and 1 to 3 sessions are required, depending on the extent of the problem, so as to fully combat it. Cryolipolysis treatment lasts approximately 1 hour.
